Pacquiao-Hatton gearing up for Battle

My family and I are very excited for the most awaited fight of our boxing idol Manny pacman Pacquiao, even my two sons are always watching on television news about the update of Pacquiao-Hatton fight. No wonder I am an avid fan of the worlds number one boxing champion of the year Manny Pacman Pacquiao.

May the good fighter win, as long as it is only a fair play? In Las Vegas There is only one Ricky Hatton, as his admirers constantly as anyone who will listen. Good thing, because if there were any more Ricky Hattons his devoted followers in England might never have time to do anything but sing.

The problem for Hatton is there’s also only one proud-for-proud champion in boxing and his name is names is Manny Pacquiao, and all he did his last time out was give Oscar dela Hoya such a beating that dela Hoya decided it was time to retire.

This Pacquiao-Hatton fight will be an exciting fight and people of the world especially here in the Philippines we are very excited and longing to watch the most awaited fight of our idol Manny Pacman Pacquiao. Many Filipinos are fond of buying Las Vegas Show Tickets to watch their favorite artists. How much more for this fight! This is definitely exciting!

My Father is a Housewife

My father is a housewife? What a question? Well the story goes like this. My mom before is a grade public school teacher and study, become a principal in my home place and now a retired principal and recently a business woman. During her elementary teaching a class of 40 noisy grade six pupils is quite a tiresome and monotonous job that laughing that laughing with the pupils is a rare experience. However, there are light moments when my mom has the occasion to laugh with them.

One day, one of her objective in English was for the pupils to be able to ask and answer do/does and what questions. During the pattern drill, she called individual pupils to come up front to answer questions. Ivy raised her hand and so my mom called her.

“Ask Ivy what her father’s name is,” mom said.

“What’s your father’s name?” chorused the children.

“My father is Mr. Juan dela Cruz.”

“Ask her what her father does.”

“What does your father do?” asked the children.

“My father is a housewife,” was Ivy quick reply.

“Ma’am, Ivy’s father is a housewife,” shouted the children and they become to laugh.

My mom asked again her pupil if what does his father do, and replied again the pupil that his father is a housewife. And my mom ask again to her pupil that, why do you say that your father is a housewife? “Ma’am because,” she mumbled, he stay at the house. He cleans our house. He washes our cloths. He cooks our food and everything, answered the poor pupil. Poor innocent children, I had to correct her wrong concept. My mom said.

The lesson for these is never tolerate the children, if they are wrong let us correct them so that when they are already big enough they know already what is wrong and what is right and people will not laugh at them at the end.

Native Snacks at Home

Summer time for my kids and most of the time they are at home watching television playing computer games, play stations, basketball in our ground, so I decided to make a native snacks for them. Most of the Filipinos love eating especially the young; we have a second breakfast usually around 10:00 a.m. and the “merienda” in the mid-afternoon. Instead of buying outside here are few recipes we can prepare at home.

Banana Fritters

Flitter batter – sift together the ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth.

Ingredients:

1 cup sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt 1/3 cup water

2 tbsp. sugar 4 tbsp. milk

1 beaten egg

Procedure:

Peel 6 – 8 saba bananas and cut lengthwise. Roll in flour, dip in flitter batter. Fry in hot oil, then drain. Served hot.

Healthy eating with pleasure is a nice thing to do in our life. What we eat has considerable impact on our physical well-being. Healthy eating with pleasure with good nutrition promotes good health. But it depends on the food that we eat for food also affects how we feel.

There is a complication between our meals moods. Many foods have biologically active compounds that can work us up or clamp us down. The caffeine in coffee is a good enhancer. There are also foods that makes as happy simply because they taste us feel good rolling around in our mouths, such as potatoes or a buttery roll and are also rich in carbohydrates.

But there are also foods that is amazing one that both combine of these factors. They contain chemical substances that stimulate the nervous system, and they send pleasure signals to the brain that trigger a natural kind of “high”. These are the foods with real pharmacological firepower.

For instance, my son loves to eat chocolates, for their father often come and goes in different countries, and no doubt it is everybody’s favorite especially the kids, and chocolates is frequently a desired food, Its psychoactive chemicals, such as caffeine that can stimulate the central nervous system.

Certain combination of foods can also affect our mood. For example, drinking a cup of coffee has been shown to have a beneficial effect on mental alertness. But if the cup of coffee is served with a spoonful of sugar, there is an added boost-one thinking skills may actually improve.

Everyone wants a friend, a friend whom we can depend on in times of sorrows and pains, a friend who understands our feelings, characteristics attitudes and behavior without any effort to destroy us but to lead us to the right path of life.

Tips to help you turn yourself into a real friendship

1. Focus on what you can give to a friend, not what you can get out of a friendship. Friendship means give and take. Never use a friend just to satisfy your needs and leave him/her when you don’t need him/her anymore.

2. Disagreement shouldn’t destroy friendship. Having different opinion to discuss with is natural and healthy but if this thing will lead to you to get mad at one another, stops it.

3. If you see your friend making mistakes, point them out tactfully to her. Be careful in correcting your friend’s mistakes. Don’t force her to change right away. You must remember it takes a lot of patience to change your friend’s attitudes and behavior.

4. Encourage your friend. Don’t put her/him down when you learn that she is achieving something; instead encourage or inspire her to work harder and to be happy for what she has achieved.

5. Be there for both the good and bad times. If you heard that your friend got promoted to any position, you celebrate it, and if you heard that your friend has a problem, be there to support and console her. Most of the times, what a friend really needs is a sympathetic ear, someone who will understand his feelings.

6. Be willing to forgive. If someone gets a mistake, we must know how to forgive.

7. Learn to accept personal differences with your friend. We must learn to accept our friend for what she is and try to help her gradually.

8. Never try to control your friend. Learn to accept the truth that your friend has other friend aside from you.

Friends may come and go, it rewards us with growth and leaves in us a reminder of life in pain or happiness and it educates us to select the best of friends we want to.

Causes of hypertension comes from the food we intake everyday. Good health comes from a result of healthy lifestyle which includes proper diet and exercise. With our lifestyle under going some revolutionary changes especially in the cities where fast foods store are serving fatty foods and high calories diet, and this one of the causes of hypertension.

When we eat in a restaurant or in any fast food chain we cannot control our diet especially if we are in group. Who can resist deep fried chicken, fish or pork chop? Fish and fries, wash down with my favorite soda is wonderful. Steaks are fantastic. Occasional bite of mouth watering dishes becomes regular food fare and the problem sets in resulting in hypertension or high blood pressure among other diseases that infect heavy casualties among people especially among those who forget to control their diet.

My mother is a high blood pressure and we tend to control her food that she eat everyday and I told her eat instead of meat better a vegetables and fruits everyday. Because the vast amount of sodium we intake mostly salt in our food is one of the biggest contributors to high blood pressure. Although lots of prescription drugs helps reduce high blood pressure, these drugs should be at last resort because they can cause fatigue and other problems.

In many instances, saving lives and adding years to our life may just be a matter of going to a doctor and having our blood pressure check up once or twice a year, cutting back on salt and fats. Enjoy every minute of our life in the company of our love ones who may be depending on us.

Stages of Children’s Growth and Development

Children grow and develop because of the inter action between nature and nurtured, what they have inherited and what they learn from their environment.

I’ve read an article that there have been decades of endless debate on whether is it heredity on the environment that plays a greater role in growth and development. Those who say it is nature that determines human growth and development insist that all children are born with inherited psychological traits that are transmitted directly through the genes from generation to generation.

What we are born with our heredity potential can be nourished and developed or stifled and delayed depending on the type, the amount and the quality of our environment encounters, it may be too late or too early.

Children go through stages of growth and development with a predictable sequence or pattern. The pattern of how fast children precede though the stages of growth and development depends upon the interaction of factors like maturation and learning.

In our children’s developmental characteristics, these children’s are not like adults, there are techniques and approaches for teaching them. We must take into consideration their characteristics and their needs and interest at children at specific stages of growth and development.

Children’s cognitive growth in any one stages depends upon there activity. The development of their brain power is not fixed at birth but is a function of appropriate activities to learn. This means that they should not be made to sit still and to listen to or observed others ad the primary means of learning. Intelligence equals activity.

In my place it is a common scenario that to see school aged children selling sampaguita flowers at the churchyard, selling vegetable or plastic bags in the market place. This is true in the urban areas that the standard of living is so high. And I really pity those children doing such things. In rural areas the scene is different but the definition is the same child labor.

I can’t imagine seeing my kids doing such things instead of they are enjoying their lives as a children. Because being children will not be a child forever, that’s why when my kids want to play with their playmates, I told them ok as long as they are only inside the subdivision premises. They need also to enjoy their lives; we need to understand also our kids because we are also kids before.

Some children cannot afford to finish elementary school because they are needed at home to take care of their young brothers and sisters while the mother or the father is away making a living. Worse still is they cannot go to school because they take care of their younger siblings while the mother is playing bingo or mahjong at the neighborhood.

What we can do today is just pray and let the parents enlighten their minds not to let their kids having a child labor which is punishable by law. Rather educate them and that is the only way we can give them to raise a good future.

In setting up meals variety, balance and moderation are the ingredients in creating a menu that the whole family will enjoy. We need to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables for it is good for our health and to avoid whatever sick we may encounter now a days. Cut down with meat and substitute with fish, tofu, and beans to save money with out cutting out on nutrients, Plan meals that are family like, especially the today are very delicate in what food they like to eat, so it very important to have setting up meals in our daily budget. And make sure that the food will be eaten will not go to waste.

Use food in season, as they usually cheaper, tomatoes for example are abundant now because it is summer time and it cost less, or buy vegetables in the market nor in department stores because it much cheaper, and if we have budget for the whole week better but in bulk and freeze for future use. Some goes for fruits and we can make our own jams and preserve also and our kids I’m sure would love to eat.

- Use local foods; and local brands of processed are usually cheaper. Anyway local foods are also processed in full nutrients and as what Government says,” patronize our own product”.

- Plan one dish meals; in my case I advice my nanny to prepare our viands in combined like combine veggies, meat and sauce to go a longer way, rather than preparing individual servings.

- Go meatless. Substitute fish at least 3 times a week. Beans are also good for replacements, also mongo which is the one and most cheapest healthy foods. We can boil the mongo and place small can of evaporated milk with a little sugar and a good snack for the kids.

- Be creative with leftovers; some foods can be eaten in the next mail like meats and we can recycled it and mix with vegetables and a great meals for the family.

The fear of growing old can strike at almost any age, Men and women who refuse to grow up emotionally are usually the first one to grow old; and the reason why, in later years, some people relapsed into second childhood is that they never really emerged from their first. Masquerading as much younger than you are is a sure sign that you’ve not grown up emotionally.

My formula of staying young is simple; Concentrate on the part of you that still young and growing –your brain. Keep your mind awake and you’ll stay younger all over. These are exciting times. Take an interest in the world around you. And make a point of learning at least one new thing everyday.

Above all, “don’t settle down’. Psychologists are accustomed to seeing two contrasting personality types develop in the near 30’s. Some men and women, although keen about their families and jobs, are constantly broadening their other interests. They keep up with the newspapers and magazines; they busy themselves with creative hobbies, preferably ones that use their hands as well as brains.

Another man begins at 35 to slump into a dull but comfortable routine. Day after day he does his job, comes home, has dinner, glances at the comic strips or sporting page and, fiddles in the radio and goes to bed. His wife does the housework, looks after the children, listens to soap operas, read an occasional love story and attends a bridge club.

People of the first type grow younger with increasing years. Men and women of the second group have already hit the skid; if they don’t change they’ll be old at 45.

Regardless of your age it’s not too late to make your life interesting. I know a housewife who, at 50, with no previous experience made herself into an outstanding industrial designer. A woman of 70 whose children thought she should retire to the shelf- conducts a successful cooking school for brides.

Irrespective of years, staying young is easy for those who live in the future. You can do it if you care enough to try. Keep your mind awake and active; that’s the only youth elixir guaranteed to work.
