Learn to Study with your Child

School days once again and back to study with our kids after school. Talking with our children about their schoolwork, look at your children’s notebooks or workbooks and returned assignments and read the teachers comments so you’ll know the areas that needs improvement.

Let our children practice independence gradually by letting her do her own work. Never do your child homework for her/him. This may seem to make life easier to both of you, but the only ting it does is foster over dependence. They will always rely on you if that happens. They won’t learn.

What teachers send home is generally work that your child is capable of doing and has already done in his/her classroom. When working with your child, begin with the end in mind, our goal for them which is to nurture critical thinking skills.

Help our child study by providing suggestions on how best to arrive at an answer. Have her review the materials and then quiz them in a fun way. And then we’ll go over their answers together so that we can easily give feedback or know what exactly they don’t understand fully. But we make it fun so that no pressure. Both parents not just one should invest time in working closely with their children.
