What to do During Disasters

Disasters happen anytime, anywhere. They can strike speedily without any warning. And when it strikes we may not have much time to act in response. It can force us to evacuate our neighbors or imprison inside our home.

Now a day the weather here in the Philippines is not normal, with a rain and shine, then according to the weather bureau there is a storm that hits our place that’s the reason why rains don’t mind to stop. A storm could confine every family to stay at home. An earthquake, flood, typhoon or any services could cut off basic services like water, electricity and telephone that last for days.

Families can, and do, cope with disaster by preparing in advance by working together as a team. Knowing what to do is our best protection and our own responsibility. When where our family be when disaster strikes? How will we find each other? Will we know that are our children are safe? Here steps to be safety.

1. Find out what could happen to you. Contact the local emergency management of civil defense officers.

2. Create a disaster plan. Meet with your family and discuss why you need to prepare for disaster. Explain the danger of fire, severe weather and earthquakes to our kids. Plan to share responsibilities and work together as a team.

3. Have a disaster preparedness list, such as post emergency telephone numbers beside the phone. Teach our children how to call these emergency numbers.

4. Practice and maintain our plan. Like quiz our kids every six months so they remember what to do during disaster.
