How to Maintain the Unity in our Family

Parents must be aware that there are many factors that influence our child’s character. The most important factor is the home, if we the parents in every home would only do our part in considering parenthood as a sacred trust and to the best of our abilities, provide our children’s spiritual and moral needs along with the everyday comforts of food, shelter and clothing as our major needs in life; if only we would not leave the character education of our children entirely to the school, then we do believe that we will succeed in maintaining family unity.

Every parent should always remember that the fact that family unity is the strength of every nation and in our society. If most of the parents considered ourselves as a member of our democratic society then we can make it a point to strengthen family ties within our family.

Maybe we need to ask this question to ourselves, when does family unity exist? There are family unities where there is love, understanding, trust with other, obedience with affection, mutual respect, humility, integrity, security and the most important is the economic stability within the home. But who sees to it that all of this prevails with in our home? The answer is we the parents, particularly the head of the family which is the father. We the parents must realize that we have a big responsibility to our children. The father, as head of the family has to play the very important role in seeing to it that we the wife and their children and anybody in the home the love and respect to one another so that he can perform successfully his role. The father has to lead in the practice of the democratic ways of life, to nourish and perpetuate among the members of the family so that we can maintain a nice way of living and have a unity in the house in our everyday living.
